Dear Lonnie & the other site team,
I found your website for one of my students after I saw him reading the book Halsey's Typhoon.
I told him my dad was in that typhoon. He was very interested to see more.
My dad, Joseph Fink, was in the marines, a radio repairman with VMF - 123.
He still has his Eight Ball patch, golden dragon card, etc.
I've attached some photos, map, cartoons, etc. that I found in his box of memories.
The list of names from the back of the large photo was written by my dad
when the photo was taken so the names are accurate.
My dad is 87 and suffers with Alzheimer's.
Your website has helped stimulate conversations to get him to do some remembering.
My mom told me that after I showed them the site, he woke up the next morning and
told her he remembered the pilots returning and talking about strafing Tokyo.
I had never heard that story before but then found the attached map.
