As I remember when we returned to the Bennington that nite most of us who were ashore had partied quite a bit. I came aboard as ordered (God knows how) and was walking across hanger bay three twards my berthing area when as memory serves someone assigned to VAW-11 fired up an AD-5-W which in turn jumped the chalks and bit into the tail of an S-2F parked in front of it. I believe they painted said S-2F on the fuselage of the AD as a "kill". Indeed it was a very interesting nite. Battle ready, yes, well maybe a few days later.
