A friend in Bennington Vermont is overwhelmed

WOW !!! I cant believe your web page. Hi my name is Tony Onorato and I am from Bennington Vermont, some of you guys know who I am. I first met some of you guys in 1993 at the ships bell dedication. I can remember inviting these sailor boys up on the veranda at the old stark hose fire house for a cold one. I can remember this large man 6 ft. 4 in. ,deep voice with an accent saying to his friends, follow me I know my way around a firehouse, and up they came. well after we all introduced ourselves, and we had a few beers, the stories started. everyone had a story, everyone had a beer. three hours later we had to break up(we had to cook at the high school) but we promised to meet later that night. okay now we are cooking having a good time when I happened to look down the walkway and here comes the NAVY what a good night we had. next we move on to the REUNION IN BENNINGTON, I can remember we were going to cook for your picnic near willow park, we got the word from our Town Mgr. to please refrain from alcohol. WHAT, he wanted us to set a good example for the town, as boring as this sounds we did just that. so here we are cooking away(dry)when this red dodge convertible with a loudspeaker playing anchors away comes rolling in, who the hell is this and what did we get ourselves in to. out of the car steps a white hair, white bearded man, he looks around for a minute and asks who's in charge, so everyone points at me (IM the smallest guy)and over he comes. this man (he works for Dottie) asks why nobody had a beer, I told him we didn't drink(HA) so after some discussion our friend says I'll be right back ,and back he came!! with coolers full of beer. we like this guy. what a great day that was 300+ people, good food, good beer, good conversation, I will never forget that day. then there was the banquet at the Ramada Inn on Saturday night. WOW what a night, I can remember being the bartender as the night moved on, another great time with you guys. of course there is always Bennington Battle Day when a group of you guys come party with us. this year many of our Firefighters (and some wives,) became Honorary Crew Members we cant thank you enough for the shirts, we wear them with PRIDE. so anyway my reason for writing this letter is I received some e-mail from Bill Copeland(white hair, white beard) today bringing me to your web page, and Ifind it fascinating. I will keep my eyes open for anything of interest to guys and send it to this page. before I go I have to say I meet a new crewmen this year he says he is in his seventies but he acts like he is in his thirties his name is Tony (good name) but he goes by Joe. Tony likes to send e-mail jokes, I need to e-mail him back soon .I hope to meet more crewmen in the future but in the meantime I will be happy to keep coming back to your web page, you all can be proud of it.
